Planning permission is being sought to change Cappoquin's Walsh's Hotel into a hostel.

The hotel has been closed for a number of years.

A planning application was submitted to Waterford City and County Council on May 20th by Mr. Ronan Power.

Planning permission is sought to make alterations to the existing hotel to allow for a hostel consisting of 8 en-suite bedrooms.

It is also hoped that three glamping pods can be installed at the East of the site.

The applicant is also seeking to remove fuel pumps on Barrack Street to allow for three car parking spaces and pedestrian access to the hostel.

The hotel is a protected structure, and a decision is expected on or by July 14th of this year.
