The Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien will travel to Waterford next Tuesday, to visit the North Quays site.

Waterford Minister of State Mary Butler says the meeting will be a 'positive development for the project'.

A memo is to be circulated to the government with plans for the North Quays before Tuesday's cabinet meeting.

Speaking to Damien Tiernan on Déise Today, the Fianna Fáil Deputy said she expects the visit to be significant.

"Minister O'Brien is coming to Waterford next Tuesday afternoon.  He's going to meet with the Chief Executive and I'm sure he's going to discuss housing and budgetary matters in relation to local authority budgets, but I do know that he is circulating a memo in advance to the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

"So much work has been done over the past four years by many politicians, the local authority and Falcon Real Estate, however for this project to go ahead there needs to be a significant investment from the government."

The Fianna Fáil TD for Waterford says that Minister's O'Brien's will be important for the future of the city.

"I have just been told it's positive and the point I really want to make is the programme for government balanced regional development is huge and we want to support Waterford.
