It’s expected to be a busy St. Patrick’s Bank Holiday weekend at hospitals.
The HSE is encouraging people to consider all care options by getting help in the right setting. Bank Holiday’s typically see a surge in patients attending A+E departments across the country.
The HSE is also encouraging people to avail of injury units across the county to take away pressure from emergency departments.
There were 319 people waiting for a bed across the country yesterday in Irish hospitals, with zero waiting at University Hospital Waterford.
Limerick continues to be the worst nationally, with 70 patients waiting for a bed at the hospital yesterday, jointly followed by Sligo and Cork University Hospitals at 31.
Other services available to people also include the national Caredoc service that typically sees patients outside of normal GP operating hours.
The Irish Coast Gard, Irish Water Safety Ireland and the RNLI are also advising people to check weather conditions and to tell someone where they are going before heading out on the water this Bank Holiday Weekend, with Gardaí are asking motorists to never driver under the influence of drink or drugs.
Anyone who is experiencing an emergency is advised to call 999 or 112.
