BuskAid, a charity fundraiser for Tinteán Housing Association, is happening at various points in Waterford City Centre today (Wednesday) between 11am 5pm.
Organisers say this year's event will be a stripped back version of previous years, due to the current Covid situation. Individual buskers will be dotted around the City throughout the day, while local Indie choir Harmania will perform outside the Vintage Tea Rooms at 4pm. There will be bucket collectors too and people are asked to keep an eye out for the BuskAid high-viz vests.
For those unable to go to Buskaid in Waterford City today, the event will also be streamed live via the Waterford in Your Pocket Facebook page.
Organiser Tadgh Williams says they're thrilled that they've been in a position to hold the event this year:
It's remarkable that we're able to pull this off again, especially in the current climate. We always get such incredible support from artists, musicians, small businesses...it's a true sense of community spirit! The Waterford public are so generous every year so we're hoping to raise as much money as possible for Tinteán Housing Association who continue to do amazing work fighting homelessness in Waterford.

BuskAid co-founder Anna Jordan added: “We hoped that this year we could return to normal but with the current public health situation that’s not possible quite yet. Although it’s brilliant to be getting back out onto the streets again in some way, we’re getting some of that magic back. But we need people to keep supporting us online as well as on the streets on the 22nd if we’re going to raise as much money as possible for Tinteán.”
