Waterford's Brook House is set to re-open from Monday, April 25th.
The mental health facility on the Cork Road in Waterford City has been closed for over two years.
That's according to Waterford TD and Minister of State for Mental Health & Older People, Mary Butler (Fianna Fail).
Service users had been protesting outside the mental health centre which has been closed since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic for a number of weeks.
In a statement, Minister Butler said:
“I have always assured service users that this facility would reopen when safe to do so, now, thankfully that Covid cases are reducing across HSE employees, it is possible to commence transferring services back to Brook House. I would not have made those assurances lightly."
The Fianna Fail TD says updates will be provided in due course regarding the full restoration of all services at Brook House.
From next Monday there will be nursing staff on site to facilitate phased and incremental return to business in line with clinical guidance. I understand how import this matter is to the people who rely on services provided from Brook House. I will update the public and service users again as we move towards full restoration of services”.
