Former Waterford Sinn Féin Councillor, Breda Brennan will not put herself forward as a candidate in the upcoming elections.
It follows yesterday's Irish Mail on Sunday which reported that Breda would likely run with Waterford TD David Cullinane, citing her as a "progressive female candidate."
However, she has now told WLR News that she definitely won't be putting her name forward.
She says she hopes a female candidate will run but only time will tell.
A former councillor, Breda resigned her seat in Waterford City & County Council in May 2021. Breda served across two terms, having been elected in 2014 and again in 2019.
A running mate has been widely anticipated following Cullinane's poll results at the last election.
