Bonmahon Tidy Towns group has bounced back following the recent theft of their equipment.

Last month, volunteers were left shocked after numerous items were stolen from a container in the village.

A similar incident occurred in Stradbally during the summer.

Chairman of Bonmahon Tidy Towns Cathal Queally said there have been numerous offers of support.

"We received donations and goodwill wishes from so many different people in the community and various local Tidy Towns groups," he explained.

"OakWood Tree Care contacted us to donate equipment and MCG Construction donated equipment also. There has been lots of goodwill."

A special event was held in the village recently involving the official switching on of the Christmas lights which proved to be a positive fun-filled community day, according to Cathal.

The group's AGM takes place in January and Cathal is encouraging new members to get involved.
