Bird strike leaves thousands without power in Waterford

Crews from ESB networks have dealt with a major fault in Waterford City this afternoon.
4,100 homes and businesses were without power in the Grange, John’s Park, Kilcohan, Ardkeen and Williamstown areas.
It was caused by a bird strike at the grange substation.
Extensive damage was caused.
The majority of customers had their power restored within 45 minutes with the remainder back within an hour and a half.
