An Bord Pleanála have upheld planning permission which was initially granted by Waterford City and County Council for a 40-home development in West Waterford.
An appeal was lodged after conditional planning permission had been granted to Bernie and Francis Dwane to build 40 homes in the Kilminion South area of Ballinroad.
Plans include 14 four-bed homes, 12 three-bed homes and 12 two-bed homes and all associated site works.
Residents had noted a potential adverse impact on the nearby traffic volume, as well as raising privacy concerns – saying the proposed 40-home development “will have a clear and obvious negative impact on all existing houses.”
In rulings on the appeals, An Bord Pleanála stated that contrary to these concerns – this development is ‘in accordance with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area’.
The development was approved subject to 18 conditions, paving the way for construction to commence.
