Planning permission has been refused for a 25-home development in the village of Ardmore.

Hollycourt Developments Limited had sought permission from Waterford City and County Council on April 17th last for 25 homes in the townland of Dysert in Ardmore.

Plans consisted of three 2-bed homes, 16 3-bed homes and 6 4-bed homes to be built onto the existing The Heritage estate.

The local authority notified the applicant that the proposed development has been refused earlier this week.

It was ruled that the proposed number of units is not in accordance with the rest of the area, and a maximum of 20 homes would have been permitted.

Waterford City and County Council deemed that the plans were contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.

With regards to the condition of the existing estate roadway and surface water design, it was ruled that the further intensification of housing would be adverse from an amenity perspective.

The applicant has the right to appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanala.
