A new anti-drug initiative, involving GAA clubs, is to begin in Waterford in the coming weeks.
The topic was discussed at this week's Local Community Safety Partnership meeting.
The initiative was set up by Sergeant Deirdre O'Neill, Waterford's Crime Prevention Officer.
It will see an expert panel inform the members of the clubs about the effects that drugs can have on the route your life takes, as well as on your mind and body.
The initiative is something that was successfully rolled out in Carlow clubs earlier this year and is based off that.
"People are there who are experts on the medical effect of drugs and the huge hazard that there is buying a product which hasn't got any pharmaceutical certification," Seán Aylward, Chairperson of the Waterford Community Safety Partnership.
Seán says plenty of information will be made available to these young people.
Waterford Superintendent Anthony Lonergan was also in attendance at the meeting.
He believes that any programme to divert people from criminality is welcomed.
Anthony thinks it is vital to include young people in the conversations about criminality and drugs.
The programme should be up and running by the end of the month.
