An Cailín Ciúin has been shortlisted for the Oscars.
The Irish-language film, set in An Rinn and starring Waterford's own Carrie Crowley, has been selected as one of 15 titles on the shortlist for Best International Film.
Those films will then be whittled down to five when the nominees are announced on January 24th.
An Cailín Ciúin, or The Quiet Girl, has had a year full of successes already - including becoming the first Irish-language film to gross more than a million euro at the box office.
Writer and Director, Colm Bairéad, believes the film has a good chance of securing a nomination.
This is despite it being "the most competitive year."
The 2023 Oscars will take place on March 12th in Los Angeles.
