This funding scheme began in 2015 and Waterford senator John Cummins says plenty of local projects have been supported by it.

"It's funded over 55 projects to the tune of over 3.8 million and today's funding brings that to over 4.3 million," he said.

Senator Cummins said that the funding has had "tangible impacts across our towns and villages in terms of revitalising them."

An additional €99,000 has been granted to Passage East and Tramore under Category 2 of the Scheme.

This will be used to develop plans which will form the basis for future Category 1 applications.
