A technical examination is under way at Wexford General Hospital, to determine the cause of a fire which led to nearly 200 patients being evacuated.
The incident has resulted in the closure of the hospital's emergency department.
The damage is being assessed this afternoon, with the Health Minister stating half of the hospital's inpatient beds were located near the area which went up in flames.
Clinical lead at Wexford General Hospital, Obada Yousif, says all emergency and maternity care has been temporarily transferred to Waterford.
He said: "It's a very fluid situation as we stand, technical assessors are on site assessing the extent of the damage. As things stand, all emergencies are diverted to University Hospital Waterford, that includes all maternity services. We hope to be in a position to re-establish some of our services very very soon."
27 patients were transferred last night, with the number standing at more than 30 patients currently.
Speaking on Déise Today this morning, General Manager of University Hospital Waterford, Grace Rothwell says staff have been exemplary in placing patients in beds as quickly as possible.
