Senior Gardai are desperately seeking officers to police tomorrow's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final between Dublin and Kerry - so much so that they have asked officers from Waterford to do so.
Sources told the Irish Mirror that the request - emailed to more than 200 Gardai yesterday afternoon - was an indication of the severe shortage of officers available in Dublin.
An email has been sent to Gardai in Waterford to see if they will come up to cover the game - because of shortages of officers in the capital.
The same gardai are also being asked if they can cover the Celtic vs Wolves friendly at the Aviva Stadium on the south side of the city.
The email, seen by The Irish Mirror, says anyone interested should contact Waterford Garda district as soon as possible.
