Aldi are seeking planning permission from Waterford City and County Council to construct a seventh store in County Waterford.

The supermarket chain are seeking to build a new store at the junction of Carrickphierish Road and Paráid na bPáistí, in Carrickphierish on the outskirts of Waterford City.

The retailer already operate six stores in the county – at Kingsmeadow, Ardkeen, The Glen, City Square, Dungarvan and Tramore.

Permission is being sought for a single-storey retail unit and 85 car parking spaces as well as associated site works.

The submission outlines that some of the lands in question will be put forward for residential developments in the coming months – with the hope that the store will compliment the future residential offering.

A decision is expected from Waterford City and County Council on or before July 24th of this year.
