ABP has today announced the commencement of a consultation process involving approximately 230 employees, regarding potential redundancies at its cutting and deboning operation in its Waterford facility. The abattoir is not affected, and the facility in Waterford will continue to receive cattle.
The proposed changes are driven by reduced livestock supply and increasing costs in Ireland. The Group will maximise other facilities to maintain its efficiency and competitiveness.
A spokesperson said, "We understand the impact this announcement may have on our colleagues and their families. We are committed to engaging constructively with our employees during this period of consultation.
"ABP remains wholly committed to the farming community, ensuring strong partnerships that sustain the quality of Irish beef. We are equally dedicated to supporting our employees and to maintaining the highest standards of service for our customers in Ireland and across international markets. These values continue to guide our business as we navigate current challenges and plan for a sustainable future."
There is no further comment while the consultation process is ongoing.
