The wife of Leonard O’Neill, whose body was recovered yesterday from the River Suir, has thanked all those who helped in the search for him.
Mr O’Neill, who was 50 and from Ashley Court in the city, was last seen in person on Monday the 15th of April at the Exchange Bar in Ballybricken.
He had a boat on the marina and it’s believed he may have fallen into the river while attempting to gain access to it.
A multi-agency search featuring official and volunteer bodies took place to locate him.
Through a facebook post on the Waterford City River Rescue page, Lenny’s wife Margaret said the family had been ‘inundated with kindness, support, food, good wishes and prayers’. She thanked all the organisations ‘who worked tirelessly to bring Lenny back to his family’.
“Thank you to all the organisation’s who worked tirelessly to find Lenny and bring him back to our family. We have been inundated with kindness, support, food, good wishes and prayers. We are truly blessed with incredible families, friends and neighbours. A special word of thanks to the Gardai, the Civil Defence, the Navy Sub Aqua team, the Garda Sub aqua team, The Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, The Waterford River Rescue , diving teams from Mallow, Killarney and Drogheda. Rescue 117, various fishermen from far and near and the many volunteers who helped in any way . Please forgive me if I have omitted anyone.
From the bottom of my heart…..Thank you and may Lenny rest in peace.“
