Paramedics who have taken to the picket lines in Waterford say they will respond to any emergency calls that come in.

A fifth strike by ambulance workers is underway in a bid to be represented by the union of their choice.

Members of the Psychiatric Nurses Association are downing tools at ambulance stations across the country until 5 this evening.

The union says it’s time for the HSE to respond to three Workplace Relations Commission invitations to attend talks to resolve this row.

Gary who is based in Waterford  says emergency calls will be answered.

His colleague John who is also on the picket line today  came off nights at 6 o’clock this morning.
