A man has been arrested in connection with two incidents including an attempted robbery at the Maxol Garage on the Cork Road in Waterford in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai received a report of a possible armed robbery at the Maxol Garage at 1am, witnesses gave a description of a suspect and a possible direction of travel.

He had approached the window at the night till area and demanded money but nothing was handed over.

During a search of the area a male matching the description was observed in the Ballybeg Park area.    He was found with property from an earlier Burglary reported at the Order of Malta Premises in Bath Street where a number of ambulances were broken into.

The 20 year old was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 remains in Custody at Waterford Garda Station.
