A celebration of the Tricolour’s Waterford roots has been moved to take place in June to avoid the unpredictable weather.

The 1848 Tricolour Celebration originally took place in March but was cancelled last year because of the Beast from the East.

The event celebrates the flag first being raised by Waterford native Thomas Francis Meagher in 1848 on 33 The Mall.

It will now take place on the last weekend in June.
