An international annual conference on the topic of entrepreneurship has attracted 350 researchers from 37 countries to Waterford.
The 38th Annual Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference (BCERC), takes place this week at the WIT Arena in Waterford.
It's the first time the conference has come to Ireland.
Professor Bill O'Gorman, Director for Research, Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy, School of Business, WIT said: “This is the biggest and most prestigious entrepreneurship conference worldwide on focus on all aspects of entrepreneurship and enterprise creation and development. This puts the South East of Ireland at the centre of entrepreneurship research worldwide.”
BCERC, widely considered the premier conference for entrepreneurial research, was established in 1981 to provide a dynamic venue where academics and real-world practitioners link theory and practice, and to encourage and increase quality research in entrepreneurship.
Professor Andrew Zacharakis , John H. Muller Chair in Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Studies, Babson College, said that he was delighted that the conference is being hosted in Waterford.
“This is the first time in its 38-year history that the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference has been held in Ireland. Leaders in entrepreneurship research, application, practice and education from all four corners of the world will be present at this conference. Their research is integral to the development of entrepreneurship that will eventually lead to the creation and sustainability of jobs.”
