Waterford motorists picked up more penalty point notices for speeding than any other driving offence last year.

New figures show that 3,063 penalty-point notices were issued to drivers here for speeding in 2019

Across the country more than 122–thousand penalty-point notices were issued to drivers for speeding last year according to Figures released under  Freedom of Information

The second highest offence here was for holding a mobile phone while driving where 683 endorsements were issued.

155 notices were issued to adults for not wearing a seat belt and 19 notices arose from the driver failing to make sure a child under the age of 17 wore a safety belt

In 8 cases drivers in Waterford a driver didn’t put a child under the age of three into a child restraint.

77 penalty-notices were issued where a leaner driver wasn’t accompanied by a qualified driver and 69 endorsements were issued for not having any insuance.

In total, 191-thousand penalty-point notices were issued last year, 4,704 applied to Waterford.
