24/7 cardiac care is on track to be delivered at University Hospital Waterford later this year.
That’s according to Waterford Minister of State, John Cummins, who was speaking on Déise Today and gave an update on the recruitment process.
Minister Cummins says the additional funding announced by the Health Minister last year allowed the recruitment campaign for additional interventional cardiologists to commence.
“Three people came through that interview process, two of those will replace two of the locum posts which have been in place at the hospital. There will be one additional post which will bring the complement to six interventional cardiologists.”
He added the sixth post is due to be filled in June.
