Sinn Féin TDs for Waterford have voiced concern after 36 voluntary redundancies at Garrett Advancing Motion at the company’s Waterford plant.
The party issued a joint statement calling the news alarming for staff and families.
Deputies David Cullinane and Conor McGuinness said the decision creates distress for workers, especially before Christmas.
Both deputies said Garrett has supported employment for decades and that any reduction in jobs poses a serious risk to Waterford.
They urged the company to give immediate clarity on its plans. They called on management to engage with staff and their representatives without delay.
Both deputies said workers need certainty about the future of the facility.
The TDs said they will monitor the situation closely. They also said they will support employees seeking transparency and fair treatment as the process continues.
They warned that voluntary redundancies at Garrett Advancing Motion must not proceed without open communication with the workforce.
