Dunabbey House residential nursing unit and Dungarvan Community Hospital in Co. Waterford, are delighted with a resumption of limited visiting.
It's inline with arrangements around the implementation from this week of new Dept. of Health amended guidelines.
Paula French (Director of Nursing for both HSE/South East Community Healthcare facilities) says it has given everyone a great lift to see residents receive family members for the first time in 2021.
Just over two months ago, 99-year-old Paddy Mooney from Bunmahon was among the first residents of Dunabbey House to receive his Covid Vaccine.
“I’ll soon be back dancing the tango again after this!” said 99 year old Paddy Mooney from Bunmahon and resident at Dunabbey House in Dungarvan, Co. #Waterford, upon receiving his #CovidVaccine there this weekend from HSE/SECH vaccination team members Kelly Whelan and Liz Carey pic.twitter.com/AJLnPdnsS2

On Monday of this week, Paddy (who was born in 1921) was delighted to welcome his brother Ger on a visit.
Across the road in Dungarvan Community Hospital, Doreen Keane from Abbeyside was being visited by her friend Rosaleen Byrne. Alice Condon from Dungarvan was also welcoming her cousin Geraldine Flavin. All enjoyed their first arranged visits since Christmas 2020 – each very happy that the opportunity to see each other in person had been made possible.
Tuesday at Dunabbey House was a special day for its resident and native of the An Rinn Gaeltacht Maurice Tobin. On what was Maurice’s birthday, his cousin Tony Tobin from the neighbouring Gaeltacht community of An Seana Phobal arrived with a cake to mark the occasion and the first family visit of 2021.
“Bhí ana áthas orm gur tháinig Tony ar mo lá breithe” said Maurice. “Well”, replied Tony, “is cinnte gur lá breithe shona a bhí ann duit inniu Maurice!”
