Gardai in Waterford arrested 13 people yesterday as part of an operation cracking down on organised crime.

They were detained for various offences ranging from theft, drugs and assault.

Four premises were searched under drug warrants while eight people were found to be in possession of small amounts of cannabis, cocaine and heroin.

14 crime prevention and intelligence gathering checkpoints were also conducted.

Waterford Garda also conducted eight proactive crime prevention beat patrols

15 bench warrants were executed and 25 summonses were served.

Three curfew checks were carried out.

Gardai also set-up three crime prevention stands as well as a primary school talk.
