Director of company behind North Quays development in Waterford welcomes funding allocation for the bridge to the site.

The developers behind the North Quays have welcomed the announcement of 12.6 million euro to Waterford Council for access works and the
transport bridge to the site.

Falcon Real Estate are investing 400 million euro with 100 million being allocated by Government Departments for infrastructure.

The planning application for the development was submitted to Waterford Council in December.

Company Director Rob Cass says they are awaiting the go ahead on planning and the announcement of further funding from Government ,with the project now
likely to start early next year.

He says there is a lot of work going on in the background and it's great to see this funding for the bridge which he described as  a vital part of the development.

Meanwhile Waterford TD David Cullinane has called for political committments about the North Quays to be translated into real action.

The 12.6 million euro from the National Transport Authority is for the sustainable transport bridge and other access works.

However, substaintial funding is still needed to move the train station.

Sinn Fein's David Cullinane says there's several funding streams.

The remainder of the money over two million euro will be spent on extending the Greenway from Bilberry to Waterford City as well as sustainable transport initiatives in Waterford City.
