A Waterford woman has been charged with manslaughter and neglect in relation to the death of a baby girl in the City in
April 2018.
The remains of new born baby Sophie Elizabeth Corcoran were discovered in the Caredoc Offices on the Cork Road, Waterford on April 22nd 2018.
All circumstances of the discovery were investigated by Gardai in Waterford which led a file been submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The DPP directed that 20 year old Caitlin Corcoran with an address at Apartment 17, Block A, Mount Suir, in Waterford City be charged with two counts, the Manslaughter and Neglect of Baby Sophie Elizabeth Corcoran at the Caredoc Offices in Waterford in April 2018.
Caitlin Corcoran was arrested by Sergeant Michelle Burns just after 6.30pm yesterday evening at Waterford Garda Station for the purpose of charge.
She was brought before Judge Furlong at a special sitting of Waterford District Court at 7pm.
Following evidence of arrest, charge and caution Judge Furlong remanded Caitlin Corcoran on bail with conditions to the 10th of March.
