Gardai are dealing with an incident at the Mount Suir estate, in the Gracedieu area of Waterford City this afternoon.
WLR News understands that three shots were fired and that one person sustained injuries and was taken to University Hospital Waterford.
It happened at around 2.30pm this afternoon.
An apartment block at the entrance to Mount Suir is the focus of the investigation.

The area is cordoned off and residents are not allowed out of or into the
Estate.
Independent Councillor Joe Kelly says residents are very concerned that a shooting occurred in such a busy area.
There's a large Garda presence in the area.
