Gardaí in Tramore have been celebrating as today marks 100 years of An Garda Síochána in the town.
A parade of past and presesnt members, the Garda Band, and the ceremonial unit got underway this afternoon.
It finished with a ceremony in the Old Coast Guard Station, a place that Superintendent Fiona Fogarty told WLR News is special for Gardaí in Tramore.
"It was the Garda Station from 1924 to 1988 so it has significance for today's event," she said.
In the Station, Gardaí were presented with their centenary medals.
The event aimed to showcase what An Garda Síochána are all about, and according to Superintendent Fogarty, that's the community.
She told WLR the community is at the forefront of everything they do, and that today was also for the people of Tramore to enjoy.
"We're community-centred at our focus so everything we do we keep the community in mind," she said.
Superintendent Fogarty added that the force have faced and overcome many challenges in the last 100 years.
"Policing is a noble and honorable profession and I think the members have just adapted," she said.
