A planning application for a 10-megawatt capacity solar farm in the Tramore area has been the green light.
This follows a 5-month long consultation process in the planning department of the Council.
Tornado Electrical Limited, with John Kirwan and Robert Halley named as the directors, had previously received planning permission.
In 2016, planning was secured for a solar farm with a 4 megawatt capacity.
However, the cost of connecting to the grid in 2016 saw the applicants decide not to proceed with the development.
Located in the Pickardstown area of Tramore, the development will consist of 71, 500m2
A decision was expected last December, however, the Council requested extensive further information documents.
This prompted a Glint and Glare assessment, a Noise assessment, and several other reports.
Additionally, Waterford Airport submitted a report stating they did not deem the proposed development would have an impact on their operations.
No submissions were received from the public in relation to the application for planning permission.
