Meet The Farmers and Producers:

Monday: Clashganny Organic Farm, Portlaw.

Week On The Farm 2025

Richard Galvin took over the family farm in 1996, deciding to change from sugar beet and suckler herd to organic tillage farming and apple orchards. They supply Organic Oats for Flahavans and Organic Rape Seed for Second Nature Oils in Kilkenny.

The first apple trees were set in Clashganny in 2001, now with over 20 acres and some 20,000 trees. Never ones to sit on their laurels, in 2018, Sheila and Richard Galvin spotted a gap in the market. They discovered they could use the discarded apples to produce their own organic apple cider vinegar, which is gaining in popularity as a health and nutritional supplement. We are delighted to see both their enterprise and orchards growing.

Friday: Early Bird Eggs, Ballinamult.

Week On The Farm 2025

Trevor Power and Sandra Mulcahy have been producing free-range eggs on their farm in Ballinamult for the past ten years. These free-range eggs are produced by hens that live in their natural surroundings and are free to roam within the protected boundaries of the farmland.

In 2005, the opportunity arose to join the local farmers’ market in both Dungarvan and Clonmel. This has proved to be a great success, and demand has increased year after year. They are very much aware that their success is a result of the continued support from their very loyal customers.
