It's Poetry Day Ireland and events are taking place in Waterford to celebrate.

A Soundings Poetry Conference take place at Christchurch Cathedral between 9am and 5pm today, where 11 poets from all over Ireland read their favourite poem from the Soundings Anthology, as well as two of their own poems.  The event is a collaboration between WIT, Christchurch Cathedral, and Modwords.

Elsewhere, Theatre Royal is hosting a reading of Mark Ropers Poetry in the Vestibule at 6pm, while at 7pm Waterford Gallery of Art is where you'll find The Waxed Lemon event "Ekphrasis 2022 Project."

The Mansion House pub in Waterford City will host an event by Waterford Writers' "Written in the Stars," at 8pm.

Meanwhile, Mojo Lounge (Revolution) hosts Pride Poets - Drag Queens, Poets and Rockstars at 9pm.

This afternoon, people are invited to Tramore Library to share favourite poems, whether self-penned or otherwise. That takes place at 2.30pm and all are welcome.
