The much-anticipated Sex and the City reboot has landed.

And Just Like That has dropped to streaming service HBO Max, after months of publicity surrounding the reboot of the iconic '90s show. Irish audiences can watch it on Sky Comedy or Now TV.

Three of the four main characters; Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Kristin Davis (Charlotte), will again take centre stage, as the thirty-somethings are now fifty-somethings in New York City. There's been much talk about the absence of Samantha (Kim Cattrall), arguably Sex and the City's most colourful character. It was confirmed from early in production that she would not feature in the reboot.

However, And Just Like That will see some new characters in the mix; Nicole Ari Parker, Sara Ramirez and Sarita Choudhury have all been added to the cast, with podcast host and stand up comedian Ramirez saying she didn't have to be asked twice to play a non-binary, bisexual, queer character. Old favourites like Chris Noth (Mr Big) and Mario Cantone (Anthony) are also expected to appear. However, Willie Garson, who played Carrie's pal Standford, and who had been filming on set, sadly died earlier this year of pancreatic cancer.

Sex and the City has been criticised for its lack of diversity and is considered by many to be culturally dated. Commenting on the addition of new characters to And Just Like That , Sarah Jessica Parker said the idea of expanding the cast was "thrilling"

The idea of the family growing, the fraternity, sorority growing was exciting and seemed challenging and interesting

The 10-episode HBO series airs on Sky Comedy at 9pm tonight, and is also available to an Irish audience, through streaming service Now.
