An RTE TV documentary to be broadcast tonight will reveal new details about the controversial death of Fr Niall Molloy in 1985.
The popular priest was killed following a struggle in the bedroom of his married friend Therése Flynn in Clara County Offaly .
Her husband, Richard, was cleared of manslaughter on the direction to the jury by the Judge in the case Frank Roe who was a friend of Mr Flynn's family.
Bill Maher, a nephew of Father Molloy, says a commission of investigation is needed:
"It's the only way that answers can be got from people who didn't give answers at the time.
"They are compelled - if they're called before a commission they're compelled to answer the questions for once and for all.
"And that includes members of the family who are still alive and who were present that night and also members of the Gardaí."
Tonight's special report on Prime Time will air at 9.35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
