Waterford audiences are set for a compelling start to the new year with Mea Culpa, a dark comedy radio play.
The original production is written by Gayle Corrigan and Nicola Spendlove, and directed by renowned playwright Jim Nolan.

The play will premiere on WLR on January 4th at 6pm.
It blends sharp humour, emotional depth, and a distinctly Waterford sensibility.

A Story Rooted in Waterford

Set against the backdrop of Waterford city, Mea Culpa explores themes of identity, family, and belonging.
The story delves into love, secrets, and the messy process of discovering who we truly are.

Award-winning actor, playwright, and co-writer Nicola Spendlove, who is adopted, brings personal insight to the story.
The theme of adoption is handled with poignancy and a wickedly comic edge.

Exceptional Local Cast and Creative Team

The broadcast features a strong local cast, including:

  • Nicola Spendlove

  • Greta Rochford

  • Michael Power

  • Angie Goma

  • Lisa Kennedy

Sound design and editing are by Owen Corrigan.
His immersive audio work heightens both tension and humour.

Milestone Production for Emerging Talent

Mea Culpa marks a major milestone for co-writer and producer Gayle Corrigan.
She developed the project after completing the WLR / BEAT SETU Podcasting and Broadcasting course in 2024.

Her collaboration with Spendlove brings together two distinct voices.
Both share a deep love for storytelling rooted in Waterford life.
