On Friday October 30th and Saturday October 31st, WLR aired a 5-part documentary Against The Current, which takes a look at the counter culture movement of Waterford from 1979 – 1996.
Produced by Ray Colclough and Keith Daniels, the documentary features some of the key figures in Waterford's Counter Culture movements and explores why these Sub Cultures wanted to be different from main stream, while doing it in a time of huge socially and political turmoil in the Island of Ireland.
Episode One
Episode One gives an introduction to all the subcultures that graced the streets of Waterford.
Episode Two
Episode Two delves into the history of “The Freewheelers MC”.
Episode Three
In Episode Three we cover the Mod, Ska and Scooterist scenes.
Episode Four
Episode Four covers the Punk, New Wave and Indie scenes.
Episode Five
Finally, Episode Five covers the Dance Scene from the 90’s with such clubs as as Tasty and Can’t Stop.
