January is a month where people can often struggle to keep motivation going.
Hayden Cashel from Kingfisher Gym says new habits take time to develop.
Speaking to WLR, he says people should remind themselves of how far they've come.
"Are you better than you were yesterday? As cliché as it is, it is you versus you," Hayden said.
He added that you should not compare yourself to others or to the future self that you have envisaged for yourself.
Changes should also only be made if they align with what already matters to you.
Hayden believes that you need to consider what's important to you in life before you make changes.
"Whether that is our health, our family, our functionality as moving around and being able to move better. Even just picking up the kids and being able to pick them up," he said.
