A Christmas of Events & Festive Stays to Remember at Mount Congreve Gardens
The magic of Christmas will come alive at Mount Congreve Gardens this year, where twinkling lights, festive workshops, and seasonal experiences will fill the historic estate with warmth and wonder. The festivities begin on Saturday, November 22nd at 2 pm, when Santa Claus himself will officially switch on the Christmas lights, marking the start of a season of celebration at one of Ireland’s Great Gardens.
Visitors are invited to step back in time and experience the charm of Christmases past, surrounded by the scents of mulled wine and freshly baked cookies, the sounds of carols drifting through the gardens, and the beauty of nature at its most enchanting. Throughout December, Mount Congreve will host a rich programme of events designed to inspire creativity, connection, and festive cheer.
For those looking to capture the true spirit of the season, Mount Congreve’s festive workshops offer something for everyone. Guests can enjoy candle-making with Emma Hyland of MuMe, and a special Christmas calligraphy workshop led by Sarah O’Dea. Each workshop combines craft, comfort, and the joy of slowing down amid the season’s bustle, with tea, coffee and festive treats included.
Families won’t want to miss a visit to Santa Claus at Mount Congreve, where the man in red will welcome children and the young at heart from November 28th to December 23rd. Each visit includes a heartwarming meet-and-greet, a special gift, and a keepsake family photo. Tickets for the Santa Experience are limited, and early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
Visitors can also enjoy festive dining in the Stables Café, browse unique gifts in the Foxford shop, and take in the sights and scents of the gardens dressed in their winter finery. Mount Congreve Gardens will be open from December 1st to 24th (closing at 2 pm on Christmas Eve), reopening from December 27th to 31st and again from January 2nd to 4th. The gardens will then take a short winter pause, reopening for the 2026 season on January 30th.
For those who wish to linger a little longer, Mount Congreve offers a selection of beautifully styled lodges, courtyard suites, and forest eco-cabins, each dressed for the season with festive décor and thoughtful touches. Guests can unwind by the fire, stroll through frost-tipped gardens, and savour the peace of the countryside.
Family Christmas packages include two nights in a forest eco-cabin, complete with a Christmas tree and a hamper of local treats, while couples can opt for a romantic stay in a Gate Lodge or Courtyard Suite, with prosecco and handmade chocolates on arrival. Guests enjoy daily access to the gardens and the Silver Exhibition in Mount Congreve House. Accommodation is available from December 12th to January 4th, with stays tailored for both festive weekends and Christmas or New Year breaks.
CEO at Mount Congreve, Sara Dolan, said, “Christmas at Mount Congreve is a truly special time. From Santa’s arrival and the lighting ceremony to the creative workshops and magical overnight stays, there’s something for everyone.
