Today marks the beginning of a remarkable musical tribute to Shane MacGowan. Victoria Mary Clarke and Rubyworks have announced the upcoming release of 20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan.
The album celebrates the songwriting legacy of the legendary The Pogues frontman. The title comes from a project MacGowan himself always hoped to create.
Bruce Springsteen Releases First Single
The first single arrives today. Bruce Springsteen delivers a powerful reinterpretation of the classic A Rainy Night in Soho.
The track now streams worldwide across all platforms. Springsteen praised MacGowan’s fearless creativity and emotional honesty. He described the Irish songwriter as deeply human, hilarious, raw, and profoundly spiritual.
A Powerful Musical Tribute
20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan will feature an extraordinary lineup. Each artist brings a fresh interpretation to MacGowan’s timeless catalogue.
The project blends global icons with modern voices from across the music world. The result promises a powerful tribute to one of Ireland’s most influential songwriters.

Supporting Dublin Simon Community
The album also supports an important cause. Fifty percent of artist royalties will go to Dublin Simon Community.
The charity provides housing and healthcare for people experiencing homelessness in Dublin. MacGowan supported the organisation for many years. He often stopped to talk with people sleeping rough in the city. In 2021, he performed at the Christmas Eve Busk. The event marked his final live performance before his passing. Funds from the album will help support programmes that build dignity, resilience, and community. Many initiatives include music and creativity as part of recovery and support.
