The first TD has been elected in Waterford in General Election 2020.

David Cullinane of Sinn Féin has topped the poll with a massive 20,569 first preference votes, the most in the history of the constituency.

His incredible surplus 9,817 votes will now be distributed.

David Cullinane's election is part of the trend of Sinn Féin candidates topping the polls today.

Eight of the first nine TDs elected nationwide are from Sinn Féin.

David Cullinane was first elected as a TD in 2016, becoming Waterford’s first Sinn Féin TD in more than 90 years.
