Brendan Byrne

Why should you vote for Brendan?

My name is Brendan Byrne I am an Independent Candidate seeking election in the Waterford City West & Tramore and Waterford City South Electoral Areas. I am a first-time candidate, I believe that the ordinary persons voice is no longer being heard and I hope to change this.

I spent my formative years growing up in Norwood and I am the only son of Gerard and Philomena Byrne. I was educated in Mount Sion and completed my third level education as a mature student studying Social Science, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theology & Philosophy and a post graduate Diploma in Social Studies. I am currently employed as a Residential Services Mangers supporting people with disabilities.

I spent several years living in the UK, where I worked as a Youth Worker and served as a Police Constable with the Metropolitan Police Service. I hope to bring this experience to the fore front in challenging unfair decisions and standing up for the rights of others.

I am passionate about human rights and have a genuine interest in serving others. I am compassionate, trustworthy and hardworking, I believe my life experience will make a difference and I respectfully ask for your number one vote.

* Independent candidate Brendan Byrne is running in Waterford City South and Waterford City West.

Why should you vote for Marc?

Marc Ó Cathasaigh is a Butlerstown native now living and working in Tramore for the last 11 years. He qualified from UCC with a Masters Degree in Medieval English before turning to Primary School Teaching and is currently teaching 5th Class in Glór na Mara NS. Marc hopes to bring a green voice and new perspective to the next sitting of Waterford Council: “Waterford and Tramore are set to experience huge growth over the next few years under the Ireland 2040 plans, and we need to make sure that happens in a sustainable way. We need planning that prevents sprawl, promotes active and public transport and maintains green space at the heart of our city.”

Marc has a lot on his plate with a young family at home, but maintains that his children are his primary motivation: “Tramore is an outstanding place to raise a family. I’m working for my boys to have every opportunity here, from first class education and healthcare to the protection of our biodiversity and environment. That’s something worth working for.”
