On this morning's Deise Today, Damien spoke to Darren Skelton from the 'Waterford News & Star' on the worrying rise in Covid cases in Waterford since Friday last.
In recent days, there have been 82 cases confirmed in Waterford and our incidence rate is now at 154.9, making us the fifth highest county.
Yesterday (Sunday), there were 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the city and county.
A total of 43 cases were confirmed on Friday evening and a further 21 cases on Saturday night.
Speaking to Damien this morning, Darren Skelton, reporter with the Waterford News & Star, said what worried people was that there were no clarity as to where these cases are emerging from.
"The public deserve to know where the numbers are coming from," he told Damien Tiernan.
"They are going to get really frightened just to leave the house and maybe they'd feel a little bit better if they knew there was a large cluster; that it wasn't just everywhere in the community."
He said employees also deserved to know if people working close to them had been affected.
And he referred back to a HSE press conference in April last when health chiefs were asked about what, if any, onus was on employers to tell employees where large outbreaks had happened in workplaces.
The response, at the time, was that it would be "obvious" to staff because of the presence of public health officials conducting testing.
