There has been a new lead in the case of missing 3 year old Madeline McCann who vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal 13 years ago. Police in Britain and Germany have identified a 43 year old suspect in the case. On todays show Damien speaks to Robbyn Swan, one of 2 Waterford based authors who co-wrote 'Looking for Madeline'. She also appeared in the Netflix documentary 'The Disappearance of Madeline McCann'.
Following the killing of a black man the US by Minneapolis police, and the ensuing protests and riots in the country, Waterford Against Racism have organised a vigil for Waterford City on Saturday. Many have criticised the timing of the event as we are still in the middle of a pandemic however organisers say they will adhere to social distancing. Organsier Seamus O Brien has the details. Damien also speaks to Catherine O Meara from Kilcohan Park, who agrees with the motivation behind the vigil but is angry that gatherings are allowed to happen when she hasn't seen her sisters in months.
Anthony Kelly tells Damien how he thinks we should be doing more to recognise great Waterford people who have passed such as Brendan Bowyer and Val Doonican. He says we don't do enough to promote that these famous people were from Waterford.
Also on the show we get an update on the situation with the Lyrenacarriga Wind Farm on the Waterford Cork border which was last week granted strategic infrastructure status. The company Innogy is expected to lodge full planning application for 25 wind turbines in the area.
There were long queues in Waterford yesterday as the Drive-thru at McDonalds re-opened. Damien spoke to some of the customers about why they were queuing for burgers.
