Waterford Wins at AIMS but Celebration Party Draws Criticism - Deise Today Monday 21st September

Waterford had success on Saturday night at the annual Association of Irish Musical Societies Awards with WLR's own Michelle Condon picking up an award for best choreography.

Theater reviewer Pat McEvoy gives his reaction to the wonderful achievement. However we also get reaction from Mark O Looney, an Irish artist who is part of the #SaveTheArts campaign and who is based in New York, to videos of a party held by theatre group owner David Hennessey. David himself also speaks to Damien and responds to the criticism over the gathering at a time of restrictions.

Also on the show reporter Aoife Kearns has the latest on the machete attack in Waterford City over the weekend. And sports reporter Nigel Kelly talks about Sam Bennett winning the green jersey in the Tour De France.

And we also hear from ASTI Vice-President Eamon Dennehy, who says they are to ballot teachers for a possible strike over Covid safety concerns in schools, after Waterford recorded the  highest number of new cases since May over the weekend.

John Treacy of the Tracy Hotel Group has reaction to the shutting down of Dublin and the impact that will have on Waterford.
