A WATERFORD man who is living with chronic pain has described his desperation and despair over the fact that he currently is facing his illness benefit being cut off.
Listener Michael described on Deise Today this morning how he is only aged 51 and had worked all his life until a back injury struck late last year.
His illness benefit is now just about to be stopped but Michael does not know if he'll be able to get an invalidity pension.
He also told Damien Tiernan this morning that he doesn't know if he'll ever be able to work again and says he is "stuck in a house every day" with no sign of any help or support, financial or otherwise.
Michael's plight struck a chord with many listeners to this morning's show, with a flood of messages in, expressing sympathies and support for him.
