1. The Housing Minister will travel to Waterford to visit the North Quays site
Waterford Minister of State Mary Butler joined Damien on Wednesday's Déise Today and spoke about an upcoming visit by Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien to the North Quays site. The Fianna Fáil TD for Waterford says that Minister’s O’Brien’s will be important for the future of the city.
2. Waterford’s incidence rate dips below 200, after highest 14 day rise nationally
Waterford has had the largest percentage increase in the 14 day incidence rate of Covid-19 since Level 5 restrictions were introduced. The latest data from the HPSC shows the rate has fallen in 23 out of 26 counties nationally, however, it rose in Waterford (up 13.5%), Tipperary (up 9%), and Carlow (up 4.3%). The incidence rate for the county was 82.6 on Oct 14th, a week later on the eve of Level 5 it had risen to 160.1, and rose further a week later on Oct 28th to 228.1.
3. US Election 2020 - 'Too close to call'

4. Calls for public lighting in the People’s Park
Labour Councillor Seamus Ryan has called for public lighting to be installed in Waterford’s People’s Park and a warden to assist in maintaining facilities to a high standard. The 16-acre amenity is the largest public park in the city, and has been a popular destination for locals throughout the Covid-19 lockdowns.
5. Covid-19 fine system expected to come into force by end of week
It's looking like those who host or travel to house parties, refuse to wear a mask or travel beyond 5km for non-essential reasons will face fines ranging from about €60 up to €2,500. The details of the fines system are being drafted by the Departments of Health and Justice and it's expected they will be signed into law by Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly by the end of this week.
