1. NPHET to review stance on Antigen Testing
NPHET says it's willing to review its stance on antigen testing for international travel, if it's presented with scientific evidence. It spent the day before the Oireachtas Transport Committee explaining why it does not think antigen testing for international travel would be effective.
2. Gardaí investigating after stones thrown at bus in Waterford
It’s understood the windows were smashed in the incident that happened at about 9.15 on the Old Tramore Road. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile a shortage of drivers is causing major problems for Bus Éireann’s services in Waterford, according to a local driver. At the weekend, it was reported that hundreds of people were left stranded because a number of services had to be cancelled.
3. Waterford TD says lack of review into cardiac services is “extraordinary” and “outrageous”
A Waterford TD is calling for the national review of cardiac services to be conducted as soon as possible. Speaking at an Oireachtas Health Committee meeting today, Sinn Féin’s David Cullinane says they’ve been awaiting the review for over a year and a half now. The Party’s spokesperson for health says continuous delays will have profound implications on the health of people in Waterford and the South East.
4. Fans return to the RSC for the clash of the Blues with champions Shamrock Rovers
200 supporters will be welcomed back to the RSC this Friday night as the Blues welcome champions Shamrock Rovers in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division. Waterford FC says only those who purchased current 2021 Season Tickets can attend on Friday night. Those who have already purchased can collect up their new 2021 Season Tickets in the Club shop at the rear of the new stand in the RSC tonight or tomorrow from 5-30pm to 7-30pm (either night) or at the gate on Friday night.
5. Waterford IT holds open evening
Adult learners who have missed the CAO 1 May late application deadline for starting on a full-time undergraduate course this September can find out about 80 other courses they can still apply for at the virtual online event this evening from 6.30 to 7.30pm.
6. Waterford actor to feature on tonight's Nationwide
Waterford actor Jamie Beamish says his "mammy is buzzin" as he is due to appear on Nationwide this evening. The Bridgerton and Derry Girls actor will discuss his acting beginnings in De La Salle and The Theatre Royal. Tune in to RTE 1 from 7pm.
