1. Appeal to public not to attend tomorrows anti-lockdown protest in Cork

The Foreign Affairs Minister has appealed to the public not to turn up to an anti-lockdown protest in Cork tomorrow. Simon Coveney says he understands people are stressed by restrictions, but mass public gatherings are counterproductive. Meanwhile the government has responded positively to a request from nurses for an extra ten days holidays.

2. Calls for CCTV and lighting in the People’s Park following alleged assault

A Waterford city and county councillor has called for CCTV and public lighting in the city’s People’s Park. Cllr Jason Murphy of FF said a recent alleged assault in the park has highlighted the need for the council to “re-focus” on the amenity.

3. Penneys issues warning to customers over online scam

The retailer said it has become aware of social media posts from fake accounts offering Penneys competitions, giveaways, vouchers and goodie bags. A spokesperson said the clothing brand had no connection to these accounts and is working hard to have them removed.

4. New office space complex to open in Waterford next year

5. Derrick Williams moves to LA

Tramore’s Derrick Williams has agreed a deal that will see him move to the West coast of the USA for two years. The 28-year-old has spent close to five years with Blackburn Rovers and recently underwent surgery for an injured quad which potentially could have seen him out of action for the remainder of the Championship Season.

6. Mount Sion Choir launch single with Ronan Keating

The Mount Sion Choir featuring Ronan Keating, has released their version of the single ‘This is Your Song’ today to raise funds for the Marie Keating Foundation’s national cancer support and survivorship services.
